Archaeology & Historical Sites
One of our true passions at Black Bear Drones is helping to support and document historical and archaeological projects. Whether it's new research or helping communicate the wonders of well -known sites, adding aerial imagery always adds value.

Industrial Archaeology
Drones don't have to fly high in the sky - they can fly at or around eye level to capture detailed objects. This is a giant millstone from the late 18th Century, used for crushing rock . Close by is an old lead mine, dating from Roman times, deep in the English Peak District. See more on this here in this StoryMap:
Historical Sites
Fort Sumter, South Carolina - the site of the first major battle of the Civil War. The fort fell into Confederate hands until the end of the war. Charleston can be seen on the other side of the bay. The pilot performed take off and landing outside of the boundary of the National Monument, taking care not to fly over anyone.

Medieval Heritage
OK, we're cheating with this - not a drone shot, too many trees here. But this is the "Shillito Cross" dating back to the 13th Century, a way-marker erected by monks on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District in the UK. Need aerial footage to supplement your historical studies? High definition imaging can really add to your project.
